Lamborghini has unveiled their Sesto Elemento Concept at the Paris Motor Show. What you’ll find is a vehicle oozing with raw power.

Lamborghini hasn’t gone in for all the eco-consciousness gripping other high-end auto marques, from biofuel Bentleys to KERS-powered Porsches. Could be they’re holding out for the technology to improve, or maybe they just think it’s a passing fad. In any case, the company’s new Sesto Elemento concept just unveiled at the Paris Motor Show dispensed with green power geegaws in favor of raw power and an emphasis on lightweight construction. The name stands for the sixth element in the periodic table, i.e. carbon, and references Lambo’s mastery of carbon fibre technology. Sexier than it sounds, trust us.

For one thing, the 999 kg Sesto Elemento has a killer power-to-weight ratio of just 1.75 kilograms per hp. Bundle that with a V10 powerplant kicking out 570 hp and you get a 0 – 100 km/h clock of just 2.5 seconds. Lambo’s thinking is that a lighter vehicle requires less fuel to do the job, hence fewer emissions etc. Let everyone else tinker around with hybrid hypercars – Lambo’s got the lightweight construction locked: “We will apply this technological advantage right across our model range,” the company’s CEO Stephan Winkelmann states. “Every future Lamborghini will be touched by the spirit of the Sesto Elemento.” May the best man win.
