Music and fashion icon Lady Gaga is bringing her unique vision to “Gaga’s Workshop” – a 5,500-square-foot wonderland full of candy, books, toys, clothes and more, located at Barneys New York. Lady Gaga says it will be a one-of-a-kind holiday shopping experience – sort of like channeling her own Willy Wonka. She created the experience with the help of stylist Nicola Formichetti, artist Eli Sudbrack and Barneys’ creative director Dennis Freedman.
“Gaga’s Workshop” takes over the 5th floor of the Madison Avenue Men’s store. Some of the unique features include an 8-foot Lady Gaga-turned-spider sculpture, and a wig-shaped boudoir that dispenses Gaga’s signature bow headbands fashioned from hair. Shoppers will be able to visit the candy shop, a library, a gallery and toy shop – all with Gaga’s unique perspective.
In addition to a one-of-a-kind presentation, “Gaga’s Workshop” will carry some one-of-a-kind items, including a $95 armadillo-shaped Alexander McQueen shoe made of chocolate, cookies shaped like little monsters, a $1,600 disco ball necklace and replicas of her notorious red-carpet outfits.
A quarter of all sales will be donated to the “Born This Way Foundation,” the organization recently founded by Lady Gaga and her mother, to focus on youth empowerment and equality.
“Gaga’s World” will be open until January 2, 2012.
