We had the pleasure of running into Christian von Koenigsegg at the New York International Auto Show today and asked him about the sales projections for his eponymous supercar. Production had slid in recent years from an all time high of 17 units in 2007. This year has started off strong for the brand and they expect to deliver 12 cars with prices ranging from $1.6 million to $2.85 million USD.
Capable of going 0-200 mph in under 18 seconds with a top speed of over 240 mph, the Koenigsegg is as fast as it is rare.
When asked about the mix, he said somewhat sheepishly, “We should have built more cars at the high end. We only planned six and they’re spoken for already. I could have sold many more.” So if you expect to be in the market for a 200+ mile per hour supercar in the next year or so, you might want to get your order in now.
