The Kindle DX gets an upgrade – and a much needed price drop.
Amazon.com announced the updates today on their top-of-the-line eReader. The DX gets a price drop of $110 – from $489 to $379. Also, the DX gets improved display contrast – reportedly 50% better than the older models.
The new version also gets a graphite enclosure, making it a bit more sleek.
Will the moves help the Kindle DX sell in an increasingly crowded eReader field? Tough question, but sales of the top-of-the-line Kindle have slumped with the introduction of the $499 iPad. The price drop is nice, but it’s still a hard stretch for many to drop almost $400 on something most people view as strictly an eReader.
