From Los Angeles to Venice, Karl Lagerfeld is famed for selecting glamorous locations for his annual Croisière presentations, and this season looks set to be no different with the designer reportedly heading to the Château de Versailles near Paris.
Details relating to the star-studded event are still top secret, although fashion writer Jim Shi divulged the event’s location and date on Twitter April 12.
“#Chanel confirms #KarlLagerfeld to stage upcoming cruise collection show in the garden of the Chateau de Versailles on the night of May 14!” tweeted Shi.
Although a little closer to home this time around, the creator’s regal choice of setting conjures up images of the chateau’s most famous resident Marie-Antoinette with her grandiose wigs and corseted gowns.
Along with the likes of Dior and Gucci, the Chanel Resort collection is one of the fashion world’s most anticipated, with last year’s show at the Hotel du Cap in Antibes on the French Riviera welcoming stars such as Vanessa Paradis, Blake Lively, and Rachel Bilson to see Lagerfeld’s nautical-influenced creations.
