Scheduled fashion weeks in various fashion capitals across the globe keeps up the activity in the industry! The curtains at the New York Fashion Week rolled down only to open up for new trends at the London Fashion Week. Julien Macdonald has pulled all stops at the event by unveiling a diamond-encrusted wedding dress. Designed to be worn by a woman on the most important day of her life, the ornamented gown is valued over four million pounds which sums up to about $6.5 million at the current rate.
Covered with real diamonds and fresh water pearls, the bridal outfit was designed to be the showstopper of Julien’s SS15 collection. The British designer, known for his glitzy shows, debuted the lace and diamond-encrusted wedding gown on his catwalk at the Royal Opera House on Saturday as part of his new-season collection.
The designer mentioned that he was inspired by the mermaid bride who swims in the sea, covered in treasure. Will The Little Mermaid Ariel be influenced by Julien’s bridal gown and will her father King Triton, the Sea King, invest in such a pricey wedding gown?
The rest of the collection was also inspired by the mermaid who lives in a tropical sea. Models sashayed down the catwalk in slim-fitting dresses, swimsuits and babydoll shift dresses which glammed up with silk knits, lace, sequins, floral motifs and sheer panels with tattoo like embroideries.
