Late Joan Rivers’ posh New York City penthouse has finally found a buyer who has purchased it for its full asking price of $28 million. Though the buyer is not officially named, it is learnt that the ornate East 62nd Street penthouse has been sold to someone from Middle East royalty.
The great comedienne’s gilt-trimmed triplex condo, which includes four bedrooms along with four and a half bathrooms, demands $25,337 in form of monthly taxes and maintenance charges only. Spanning 5,109 square feet, it is perched on the top three floors of a Horace Trumbauer-designed turn-of the-20th-century limestone mansion just off Fifth Avenue.
Rivers described the penthouse as “Louis XIV meets Fred and Ginger” and also joked about its aristocratic decor, “It’s what Marie Antoinette would have done, if she had money.”
