Actress Jessica Chastain is letting her red mane fly as she takes on the role of Merida, from ‘Brave’, in the latest Disney Dream Portrait by Annie Leibovitz. The series began in 2007 with Beyoncé starring as Alice from ‘ Alice in Wonderland’.
For the latest in the series, Disney and famed photographer tapped Academy Award-nominated actress Jessica Chastain to play the strong-willed princess Merida from the Pixar film, ‘Brave’. The photo, the 23rd in the series, shows Chastain atop a horse, her red hair flying in the wind and her bow nocked and ready to fire. The caption of the photo is ‘Where your destiny awaits’.
The last Disney Dream Portrait featured Jennifer Hudson as Tiana from the ‘Frog Prince.’
The Disney Dream Portraits have all be shot by Leibovitz. Other portraits have included Jack Black, Will Ferrell and Jason Segel as three hitchhiking ghosts, Taylor Swift as Rapuzel, Russell Brand as Captain Hook, Roger Federer as King Arthur, Jennifer Lopez as Jasmine and Mark Anthony as Aladdin, Julianne Moore as Ariel, Olivia Wilde and Alec Baldwin as Snow White and the Magic Mirror, Whoopi Goldberg as Genie, and Rachel Weisz portrayed Snow White.
