At New York Fashion Week 2014, Jason Wu unveiled his Spring-Summer 2015 collection on Friday.
The big story off the runway at Jason Wu was that the designer had sold a majority stake in his namesake label, which should lead to a flagship store and plenty more accessories.
The big story on the runway? The designer’s continued ability to tap into the spirit of NYC’s work-hard, play-hard gals. He opened with a two-tone camo-brush effect which came on safari jackets, shirtdresses and summer coats in khaki and white, and the palette stayed pretty restrained throughout the show, playing with navy, gray, dark orange and monochrome.
The American designer said he was inspired by strong women for his new collection, and he had two in particular in mind: actresses Charlotte Rampling and Diane Kruger.
Perhaps taking his cue from his other design role at Hugo Boss, there were a few chic pieces for the working woman, as well as some more daring day to night options including suede thigh split dresses, lace separates, and boxy shouldered jackets. The eveningwear finale came with a series of silk and sequin dresses and gowns.
