A look at Arik Ben Simhon’s new sporty furniture designs.
Tel Aviv-based furniture designer Arik Ben Simhon used the sporting world for inspiration in his latest collection of upholstery and furniture pieces, which feature plush couches meant to resemble the protective pads used in hockey and skateboarding. Other stainless-steel pieces are motivated by sleek, bold gym equipment. The metallic colors and soft cushions are meant to juxtapose high fashion with home design, resulting in interesting pieces that remain functional. The collection includes a punching bag and a black leather sofa resembling a hockey glove. Ben Simhon premiered his 2009 collection at the Milan Design Week in April, and pieces are available from his studios in either Tel Aviv or Moscow. – From Robb Report
