For two stars who have kept much of their relationship private, the choice makes sense. Beaverbrook is close enough to London for an easy arrival, yet its scale and secluded setting make unwanted attention easier to avoid. Once inside the estate, guests have little reason to leave.
A Country House With a Remarkable Past
Beaverbrook was once the home of Lord Beaverbrook, the newspaper publisher and political power broker whose guest book read like a record of 20th-century British society. Politicians, writers, artists and actors came to stay, dine and debate at the Surrey estate.
The hotel has kept that history visible. The main house contains 18 individually designed bedrooms named for figures associated with Beaverbrook’s past.

What It Is Like to Stay at Beaverbrook
The Coach House Spa overlooks the Surrey Hills and features stained-glass ceilings designed by British artist Brian Clarke. The colored glass throws changing patterns of light across the indoor pool and treatment rooms throughout the day.
Dining is spread across the estate. The House serves a Japanese-inspired menu, while The Garden House Restaurant specializes in seasonal Anglo-Italian cooking using ingredients from local suppliers and the kitchen garden.
Sir Frank’s Bar is the place for cocktails and whisky. More private experiences include dinner prepared over an open fire in the woodland WildKitchen and a five-course Japanese menu served inside individual dining balloons in the Italian Garden.
Days can be spent walking, cycling, playing tennis or croquet, visiting the spa or watching a film in the estate’s private cinema. Summer picnics can also be arranged in the Garden House meadow.
