Big Apple’s skyline is gearing up to welcome its latest addition as Zaha Hadid’s first residential building rises in New York City. The futuristic residence with 39 apartments at 520 West 28th Street has been designed by the renowned Iraqi-British architect. The 11-story vertical landscape sitting directly on the multi-million dollar, 1.45-mile-long New York City linear park, High Line, measures 135 feet high. Renowned for shaping structures defined by graceful curves inspired by nature, Ms. Hadid has collaborated with Ismael Leyva Architects on the project. The new building will break the hard angles that dominate standard residential architecture.The building’s elegant hand-rubbed metal façade is driven by one continuous line, which loops its way skywards. The notable features of each condominium at the monumental piece of art include signature Zaha Hadid touch. Exquisite wide-plank white oak flooring adds warmth and texture throughout the residences and the large master bedroom suites include en-suite master bathrooms, large walk-in closets or dressing rooms, and linen closets.The kitchen island is shaped from sculpted white marble and high-gloss formed millwork. It is equipped with high performing functionality of Boffi’s exclusive top-of-the-line Xila collection.The master bathroom of the master suite boasts of hand-selected white marble in contrast with a unique black crosscut Nero Marquinia marble feature wall. It is also home to a freestanding six-foot sculptural bathtub by Teuco Guzzini and Dornbracht fixtures.As the triplex penthouse offers north, east, and south views of Manhattan from a rooftop terrace in excess of 2,000 square feet, the terrace and balcony doors effortlessly slide open at the push of a button, connecting indoor and outdoor space.While a water feature and skylight allow natural light to illuminate the generous 75-foot saline-system swimming pool, a dedicated wellness level features a state-of-the-art fitness center created by innovative fitness specialists, The Wright Fit.
