This extravagant $114 million mansion inspired by the Palace of Versailles is gift-wrapped for Christmas. Located on New York City’s Upper East Side, the townhouse offers sweeping views of Central Park and the Manhattan skyline. The six story, forty-foot wide home features 20,000 square feet of living space, 19 rooms designed with the ‘finest European imported materials’, an opulent red velvet home theatre/media room and in the basement a saltwater pool with spa.
Originally constructed in 1884, the mansion was purchased by the CEO of Virtu Financial, Vincent Viola, and his designer wife Theresa in 2005 for $20 million.
As the biggest Christmas present in New York City, the Violas tied on a giant red bow to the outside of the limestone home at 12 E. 69th St., complete with a “Merry Christmas” tag.
And according to the NYPost, buyers are interested:
The Violas are not prepared to show the home until after the holidays but already they have received offers “from around the globe,” said their listing broker, Gabriella Dufwa, of The Corcoran Group. “The price is well justified,” Dufwa said. “London has been getting these types of prices. We’re behind, but we’re next.”
