New Yorkers can up their style quotient by heading to Balmain’s first American flagship store. Located on 100 Wooster Street, in New York’s SoHo neighborhood, Balmain woos fashion conscious people with a range of men’s, women’s and accessories collections as well as the new collection of Balmain Kid.
The Parisian house’s Creative Director Olivier Rousteing has been very sure about the location of the brand’s first American outpost stating, “I find America incredibly inspiring. I admire its uniquely open spirit, mix of peoples and impressive culture—and New York is all that, multiplied by a thousand!”For the 2,150-square-foot interior, Olivier Marty and Karl Fournier of Studio KO give a fresh twist to the house’s recent retail design choices. The new SoHo space riffs on Villa Balmain, the beautiful mid-century vacation home on the Italian island of Elba that served as M. Balmain’s retreat. Designed such as to serve as the interior of a modern house perched on a Mediterranean cliff, the flagship is nestled inside the 19th-century structure. The interior channels Balmain’s history and is inspired by postwar American design’s generosity of volume and love of simplicity. Featuring touches of gold and brass, impressive mirrors and re-editions of classic 20th-century French furniture designs, the crowning touch is a large 19th-Century replica of a classic Greek statue that evokes Pierre Balmain’s collection of classic terracotta figurines.Balmain
