It was a royal switcheroo. Newlyweds Kate Middleton and Prince William were supposed to follow Prince Charles and Camilla to their Scotland estate to ring in the New Year. However, it was all a ruse. England’s royal couple spent New Year’s Eve with the Middleton family in Kate’s hometown of Berkshire. Pippa, a professional party planner, threw a gala event at the Middleton home in their backyard. Prince William and Kate marked their first New Year as man and wife with the Middletons – in a tent traditionally used by reindeer herders in Lapland. Their teepee-style ‘kata’ was hired from an upmarket events firm by Kate’s sister Pippa for a party she hosted in her parents’ back garden in Berkshire. According to a villager, Kate and William, who was wearing a flat cap and green Barbour jacket, were laughing and joking, and ‘looked full of the joys of the season’. – read more
