Employing the use of different levels in the architecture and traditionally folded roof lines made of interlaced palm leaves, this design gives off a sense of wildness, but also one of private bliss.
Located on the outskirts of Itacaré, a town in the south part of the state of Bahia, Brazil, Villa Kabru rises in a UNESCO World Cultural Heritage site in the Atlantic Forest. Optimized daylight and shade create a stunning reflection of light within the open floor plan. This continuous connection to the outdoors makes inhabitants feel they live in the forest itself, only adorned with design elements. A lockable bedroom with walk-in closet is the most private space in the house, while the social spaces were seamlessly connected. A series of terraces and a swimming pool integrated in the landscape shape a powerful link to the wild outdoors, while the outdoor shower completes this dreamy scene. Recycled wood and local building techniques were used to build this holiday home that can also be rented.
