HGTV is taking its second annual HGTV Urban Oasis Giveaway to new heights, creating a custom, contemporary residence on the 35th floor of the Trump International Hotel & Tower in Chicago. HGTV’s popular designer Vern Yip has drafted plans for the 1,000 square-foot residence that will be the centerpiece of a fall 2011 grand-prize package. The fully-furnished, high-rise residence will include one bedroom, 1 1/2 baths, a gourmet kitchen and extraordinary views of the city’s skyline, the Chicago River and Lake Michigan. Viewers can enter for a chance to win the HGTV Urban Oasis Giveaway once a day on HGTV.com as well as once a day on HGTV’s Frontdoor.com from Thursday, August 18 – Friday, October 7, 2011. Until then, videos and additional information about the Chicago site are available at HGTV.com/urbanoasis and frontdoor.com/urbanoasis.
“If you like the energy of city life, then the HGTV Urban Oasis is the giveaway for you,” said network President Jim Samples. “Chicago’s Trump International Hotel & Tower is an ideal location for anyone who has dreamed of a luxurious downtown lifestyle and, once again, viewers can expect the HGTV Urban Oasis residence to showcase the best in urban design and progressive city living.”
Yip, a favorite with viewers and a panel member on the popular series HGTV Design Star, plans to decorate the high-rise residence with an eclectic mix of antiques and architectural artifacts that can comfortably co-exist with the more contemporary decor reflective of Chicago’s heart and soul. The residence also will include access to the tower’s five star services such as a spa, fitness center, pool, restaurant and 24-hour concierge.
“When it is completed, the 2011 HGTV Urban Oasis will exemplify the best of Chicago,” said Jack Thomasson, Professional House Planner for HGTV. “The Trump International Hotel & Tower is the best address in Chicago, having been ranked #1 in the category of Large City Hotels – Continental U.S. and Canada in Travel + Leisure’s 2010 World’s Best Awards readers’ survey. We are proud to bring this amazing opportunity to fans of the HGTV home giveaways.”
As part of its comprehensive on-air and online coverage during the giveaway period, HGTV will feature many of the popular attractions, parks and eclectic shops in the Chicago area including the Museum of Contemporary Art, the Art Institute of Chicago, the Chicago Botanic Gardens and the Frank Lloyd Wright home and studio in Oak Park, IL.
“We are thrilled to partner with HGTV for the 2011 Urban Oasis Giveaway,” said Ivanka Trump, executive vice president of development and acquisitions at The Trump Organization. “From the spectacular city views to the building’s world-class amenities, we think HGTV viewers will enjoy witnessing the unparalleled living arrangements available to owners at Trump International Hotel & Tower Chicago, and are excited to see the completed unit.”
