One of our favorite stores in New York, the Hermès Flagship store on Madison Avenue, is expanding with a floor dedicated to leather — and launching the limited edition So-Black handbag collection and the mini Constance bags in satin. Here’s the official news from Hermès:
On Tuesday, September 14, the house of Hermès will celebrate the opening of its newly refurbished floor dedicated to leather at the Hermès Flagship store. Located at 691 Madison Avenue, the 2,000 square-foot floor will present the comprehensive and iconic leather collection from the world of Hermès. Designed by RDAI, the Parisian architectural agency founded by Rena Dumas, the new floor will present the breadth of leather products that founded the House nearly two centuries ago. Details from the landmark Hermès store at 24 Faubourg Saint-Honoré are reworked, creating a contemporary twist in an elegant and welcoming setting. Features include a VIP studio in leather paneling for special and custom orders; cherry wood shelving and limestone tiled flooring; and sliding glass wall cases from floor to ceiling around the spiral staircase. The new floor will also house a leather workshop station, resided by Parisian trained craftsmen, for refurbishment and restorations of products to be performed on site. The opening of the leather floor will also mark the United States launch of the limited edition So-Black handbag collection and the mini Constance bags in satin.
