The world’s most famous jewelry brands are showcasing their best and the latest creations at the ongoing haute joaillerie event, La Biennale des Antiquaires in Paris. Hermès, the French brand renowned for its equestrian collections also woos jewelry shoppers with horse themed ornaments. This time creative director of Hermès jewelry, Pierre Hardy, has designed a jewelry collection which is inspired by the horse but the one that has bolted, leaving behind its bejeweled tack.
Maria Doulton of The Jewellery Editor reports that the French luxury fashion house has presented three new sets of jewels in Paris. Pierre Hardy’s latest designs carry hints of the horse but in a very subtle manner. The new jewels appear to have been shaken off by a spirited horse that has been released free to bolt over the horizon in a cloud of dust.
The Brides de Gala set takes shape after the horse’s head tack. The usually seen blue suede straps, a noseband, a headpiece and a throat-latch have been given a dazzling makeover with gold and diamonds. Maria further describes the remarkable set, “Unfastened, the power and control of the bridle rests languidly, ready to drape on the body. Once on the skin, the supple gold yields and swathes the neck and wrist.”
Partly inspired by the signature Hermès scarf, each of the Hardy’s creations is made with such minute attention to detail that they even move like silk. They can be worn in different ways; draped down the back like a scarf, layered or single or strapped around the head. Hardy’s latest pieces of jewels are very Hermès but from a very different stable.
