Gansevoort has officially opened its second hotel in the Caribbean, Gansevoort Playa Imbert, on the island’s north coast.
We’re seriously hurting for a warm weather weekend after seeing this gorgeous 48-suite hotel, a conversion from a former condo building to a luxury resort.
The property features one and two-bedroom lofts; three-bedroom apartments with private plunge pools and spacious terraces; and a collection of four-bedroom penthouses. Each penthouse offers a private rooftop Jacuzzi. Luxe touches like floor-to-ceiling windows and oceanfront views from every room, as well as state-of-the art kitchens, walk-in showers, custom bathtubs and natural stone finishes make this a must-visit.
This part of the island is best known for its value-centric all-inclusives, and so Gansevoort brings some much-needed luxury to the north coast.
On the beach, outdoor living is the name of the game. You’ll spend your days on the beach or at the dramatic, 3-tiered cascading infinity pool overlooking Playa Imbert’s crescent-shaped beach. A second, adults-only pool will open in the spring. Dining at Baia Lounge, now open to the public, features gourmet Mediterranean specialties and Asian-inspired fare flawlessly executed by Chef Giancarlo Fiori, who once worked at the world famous Michelin 3-star El Bulli restaurant in San Sebastian Spain. Want something more casual? They’ve also got La Cantina Wine + Cigar Cellar wines from around the world and a fully-stocked humidor in an exclusive, underground setting.
Zen out at the day spa with its Hammam-style sauna, meditation and yoga garden, or indulge in any number of water sports.
This hotel is sure to signal only more exciting things to come for the island; Aman Playa Grande will also open on the north coast next year.
