Gwyneth Paltrow plays Santa by opening Goop’s first pop-up store in New York City as well as launching a capsule collection in collaboration with Valentino. Goop will welcome shoppers from November 23 until December 24 at the Time Warner Center. This ephemeral outpost, with handmade custom furniture and accessories, is Goop’s fourth of its kind but the first in Manhattan. Gwyneth and Valentino’s design team, Maria Grazia Chiuri and Pierpaolo Piccioli have been friends since long. However the trio struck the partnership for the upcoming collection at the latter’s couture show held in July in Paris.The Wonder Woman-inspired collection comprises of 25 pieces and true to its name has been inspired by Gwyneth’s favorite show during her young days. Ms. Paltrow exemplifies, “To me, it’s a fantastic and resonant idea because everybody is working, having kids, trying not to miss a soccer game while at the same time being on a conference call. The modern woman is a wonder woman.”Embellished with stars, the collection includes clothes, accessories and footwear. While leather jackets are up for $10,500, tulle dresses carry a $8,900 tag. Leather bracelets are available for $275 and white sneakers with gold stars dazzle for $1,075.With this new collaboration, Ms. Chiuri and Mr. Piccioli have opened doors to reach American shoppers through one of the country’s best-known celebrities. While Ms. Chiuri stated, “We wanted to give a positive message for women that could be important to speak about now in a fun way,” Mr. Piccioli spoke about the collection, “It’s high and low together. Because Goop is quite democratic. It’s a modern language.”
