Gap is celebrating its arrival in Italy by partnering with one of the country’s most famous couture houses — Valentino.
Hot on the heels of the news that Lanvin’s hot-as-French-mustard designer Alber Elbaz is ‘getting into bed’ with the H&M chain, comes word of another equally surprising fashion ‘marriage’ – the Amerian sportswear brand Gap and the Italian jetset designer label, Valentino. Gap has secured a capsule collection designed by Valentino’s creative directors, Maria Grazia Chiuri and Pier Paolo Piccioli, to celebrate the opening of its first Gap stores in Italy. The collection will be launched in Milan in November, at Gap’s new Milan flagship. The collection will also be available at Colette, Paris; Dover Street Market, London; and at Gap’s London flagship. Stephen Sunnucks, President of Gap Europe and Strategic Alliances, said: “We’re thrilled to be welcomed by the House of Valentino, with its unique position in Italy’s fashion heritage, and to work with Maria Grazia and Pier Paolo, and their modern, fresh take on women’s style.” – via Telegraph
