On the cover of Vogue Australia’s upcoming May edition, Game of Thrones star Emilia Clarke has proven that she actually looks nothing like her character Daenerys Targaryen.
Speaking to Vogue, the Mother of Dragons revealed that she rarely gets noticed by people unless they’re extremely die hard fans.
The 29-year-old actress said: “If I’m walking down the street with Kit Harington or Gwen Christie or anyone from the show, fans will be like: ‘Can you just take a picture of us please?’ “And I’m like: ‘Sure, I can’.”
Even fellow Hollywood insiders have trouble recognizing the brunette beauty off-screen. Clarke offers one pretty hilarious example: “Like, the GQ Awards last year, I walked in and I’m with my mate Lola and we’re having a great time and no-one’s talking to us and that’s chill…But then they gave me an award, so I did a little speech. And then I come off the stage and everyone’s like: ‘Oh my god, without all the dragons I didn’t recognize you!'”
Below, watch a clip from The Late Late Show, as Clarke, Abbi Jacobsen and Ilana Glazer have one, small, simple request for the Game of Thrones showrunners: Free the P. “I feel like there’s a little bit of inequality that happens with women, this woman in particular, and what happens with the other guys,” Clarke told James Corden, the host of The Late Late Show. “I think it should be even.”
Clarke, whose character has been nude more than her fair share of the time, thinks that there needs to be more male nudity on the fantasy show to balance things out. Abbie and Ilana agree.
