The annual Goodwood Revival, taking place in Chichester, UK this weekend at the legendary Goodwood Estate belonging to Lord March, sees some of the world’s most beautiful classic sports and luxury cars come together in a gentlemanly gathering where swell vintage style to match the motorcars matters just as much.
Each year UK-based auction house Bonhams offers some spectacular automobiles and motoring memorabilia as well, and this year is no exception. A number of cars belonging to newly-minted Top Gear host and noted car collector Chris Evans are among the highlights, including a stunning 1963 Ferrari 250 GT Lusso Berlinetta, 1971 Ferrari 365 GTS/4 Daytona Spider, and a $4.5 million 1966 Ferrari 275 GTB/6C Alloy.
This year Goodwood is also adding a little kick to the proceedings as well in the form of a tribute to the miniskirt on the occasion of the 50th anniversary of the year 1965, when the iconic garment was first readily available to the young women who made it an instant icon. In order to help you get in gear for the big event, we’ve compiled a list of five essential items every gentleman of means should acquire:
1. 1953 Bentley R-Type 4.9-Litre Continental Sports Saloon
With dashing coachwork by H J Mulliner, the ultimate for arriving at Goodwood in style. The words “post-war Bentley” really roll off the tongue.
