Nicaragua, Central America’s largest country, is fast becoming a hotspot for luxury travel.
Next up on our must-visit list? Nekupe Sporting Resort and Retreat, an eight-room luxury property set on a 1,300 acre reserve and animal sanctuary in the mountainous region of Nicaragua. It’s the first of its kind in the country.
Nekupe, which means “heaven” in Chorotega – the indigenous language of a native tribe in Nicaragua, will feature four standalone villas, each with an open terrace and private staff, and La Gran Residencia, a residential compound that houses two grand suites and two additional suites.
Guests will have their own ATV to get around (think Jurassic Park without the dinos), and experiences are rooted in an active-outdoor lifestyle include hiking, horseback riding, skeet shooting, sports fishing and more complemented by opportunities for thoughtful inner reflection through mountain-top yoga, spa treatments, meditation and more. Fun extras, like private rum tastings and cigar experiences, can also be arranged.
The property looks perfect for a buyout – perhaps the ultimate adventurous bachelor/bachelorette part or epic birthday destination? There’s even a small chapel for intimate weddings.
We can’t wait to visit when the hotel opens in November.
