The sudden dip in East Coast temperatures has us wondering when winter will ever be over, and, as a result, wishing even more for a warm weather vacation. Enter Miami’s latest luxury hotel, Metropolitan by COMO, Miami Beach, which opened March 3. The 74-room property in the city’s Historic District occupies on original 1930’s Art Deco building with direct beach access, a private swimming pool, rooftop COMO Shambhala spa and juice bar and a soon-to-open restaurant, Traymore.
We’d choose the Metropolitan Rooms, featuring featuring balconies overlooking the Intracoastal Waterway and Lake Pancoast, or the penthouse COMO Suite, featuring large separate kitchen and dining areas. All rooms feature king beds, rain fall showers, “interactive” TVs and COMO Shambhala bath amenities. Designed by Italian Paola Navone (yes, the same one with a collection currently at Crate & Barrel), the hotel melds its Deco exterior with modern, urban touches like metal accents and soft, pastel colors.
The property is the third in the Metropolitan by COMO brand, following properties in London and Bangkok. Other COMO properties the original COMO Shambhala Estate in Bali, Parrot Cay in Turks & Caicos, Cocoa Island in the Maldives and two soon-to-open properties in the Maldives and Phuket.
Rates for a weekend stay this month start at $500 per night.
