Updated with the new YouTube video from Honda: (we’re still waiting, and anticipating, the return of Ferris Bueller in 2012!).
This 10-second YouTube teaser shows Ferris Bueller star Matthew Broderick asking “How can I handle work on a day like today?” and then cues a snippet of “Oh Yeah,” the song from the John Hughes movie “Ferris Bueller’s Day Off.″ What the video doesn’t reveal is the sponsor. Instead there’s just the message “2.5.12″ — also known as Super Bowl Sunday.
However, on Friday, the auto blog Jalopnik reported that a source “familiar with Honda’s operations” revealed that Ferris will appear in a commercial for the car company during the Super Bowl. “The source also added that the spot was going to mimic much of the original film, except this time prominently featuring Hondas,” Jalopnik reported. “The big jump the two valets do in Cameron’s dad’s Ferrari? We hear this time it’s going to be a Honda CR-V.”
“Honda is pouring a lot of money into this ad and, according to our source, hired The Hangover writer/director Todd Phillips to put it all together.”
