Manufactured by heating vinyl and allowing it to shape unobstructed under heat, each piece of the Anitya Series furniture collection by Sehoon Lee displays a unique print of time. Forming unexpectedly under heat to appear textured, the material was further sculpted into a playful, softly glowing modern furniture collection. The Korean designer expresses the thoughts behind this wonderful furniture collection in an attempt to introduce us to his perspective on the dynamic nature of our surroundings:
“In the universe that we are existing in, no creatures stay at a same point where they’ve been in past, and we have been changed every moment. This kinetic energy keeps conflict and being auxiliary to each others in balance without any hierarchy. I’ve been trying to present this kind of mutual energy in my work.”
Each unique furniture item was marked by a certain influence over its material in a certain moment in time, irrecoverable but perfect in its passing: ” That describes the moment of creation internally and externally.There is no core, but relationship which is explained as a derivation without origin because it comes from complementary relation, not coercive.” Mirrors of various sized and shapes, chairs and stools all share the same technology, but each express the influence of heat and time over their shape.
