The Dubai Police must have the largest vehicle budget of any police department in the world. Their line up includes some of the finest autos in the world, including a Bugatti Veyron, Aston Martin One-77 and a Lamborghini Aventado. Now, the department is adding a McLaren MP4-12C – one of the most expensive supercars in the world.
The new McLaren MP4-12C was introduced on the department’s official Twitter account, saying, ‘Dubai Police latest Super Patrol Car. The McLaren MP4-12C.’ We like the understated approach.
The MP4-12C, which was introduced in 2011, starts at around $250,000. It features a carbon fiber composite chassis, and a 3.8-liter V8 twin-turbo engine that can produce 616 horsepower.
The Dubai police use the luxury super cars as public relations vehicles (bad pun intended). Dubai is one of the wealthiest cities in the world, and local officials believes the luxe police vehicles enhance the city’s reputation.
So, what vehicle should the Dubai Police consider adding in the future? We think the Koenigsegg Agrera or CCX would do nicely. Or if you want to stick with more recognizable brands, the Ferrari Enzo or Jaguar XJ220 would make for a solid addition.
