Horses don’t know the odds. Good thing for 13-1 Drosselmeyer.
Drosselmeyer, a three-year old colt, pulled off an upset in the Belmont Stakes, taking the lead in the stretch and defeating Fly Down by three-quarters of a length. The stunning victory gave Hall of Fame trainer Bill Mott his first win in a Triple Crown race. Jockey Mike Smith got his first Belmont win in thirteen tries.
Preakness runner-up First Dude was third after setting the pace for most of the race.
