Baselworld, the most important annual show for the world’s watch and jewelry industry, is in full force and Dior is making the most of it by unveiling the House’s brand new timepieces – Dior VIII Grand Bal Pièce Unique Ondine and Dior Grand Soir Kaléidiorscope.
Unveiled on the first day of Baselworld 2016, Dior VIII Grand Bal Pièce Unique Ondine pays ode to the French luxury fashion label’s Ondine dress. Featuring innumerable pleats, the outfit was created by Christian Dior for his haute couture autumn-winter 1947 collection. Set with six hundred and forty-eight diamonds, tsavorites, amethysts and sapphires on white, rose or yellow gold, the dial also exists in a graphic variation inspired by the weft weave of a fabric. Powered with a “Dior Inversé 11½” movement, the face of the watch gives an impression of a pleat in motion. Offered in an edition of twelve unique pieces, Dior VIII Grand Bal Ondine can be strapped on with a leather bracelet tinted a metallic shade or in black satin. On the second day of the marquee event in watchmaking, Dior Grand Soir Kaléidiorscope takes the stage. The 2016 edition of Dior Grand Soir is inspired by delicate embroideries designed by Christian Dior for his dresses. Ornamented with over one hundred and eighty metals and stones, the dial features floating explosion of colors and lines. Placed behind the “Elite 681” automatic calibre movement, the pure-wrought rotor is visible through a caseback. Designed in an edition of eight unique pieces, the Dior Grand Soir Kaléidiorscope can be opted with a denim or black satin bracelet.Dior
