The Directors Guild of America (DGA) nominations are usually solid forecasters of the Oscars, so their announcement is usually greeted with keen interest by Hollywood.
On Monday, the guild announced this year’s nominations, lead by David Fincher for his move about the founding of Facebook, “The Social Network”. Fincher and his film have been scooping up numerous trophies during this awards season, so the selection is no surprise.
The other nominees are Darren Aronofsky for “Black Swan,” Tom Hooper for “The King’s Speech,” Christopher Nolan for “Inception” and David O. Russell for “The Fighter.”
The winner of the DGA has gone on to win the directing Oscar 56 of last 62 years, including last year’s DGA winner, Kathryn Bigelow.
The DGA Awards will be January 29.
