Constructed with the intention of offering the best customized interiors and architecture – a place that captures views of the surroundings and encompasses the perfect collection of interiors for its inhabitants, the Hilltop House – as today’s dream home was named – surprises panoramic views of the surroundings from its hilltop location that also lends its name. Designed by Safdie Rabines and located in Rancho Santa Fe, California, the contemporary residence is not only impressive in architecture and interior design, but also energy efficient.
Created to naturally ventilate the interiors, its design provides passive solar heating and hydronic radiant floors warm the interiors from floor level. Spreading over 10,000 square feet, the Hilltop House is brightly illuminated by natural light coming from carefully places windows. A mixture of steel and wooden beams support the architecture while offering the rooms a cozy, warm feeling. An open plan living space downstairs includes the living and dining room next to the kitchen. By using stairs to delimit the spaces, a sense of comfort and coziness was achieved, without loosing the luxurious overall design.
