For today’s dream home, we have chosen a fascinating contemporary residence in Boulder, Colorado. The residence’s interiors tell the story of colors playing with light – its imposing two-storey red glass staircase thrones in the middle of a monochromatic living space filled with natural light. The Orchard Street House was designed by Colorado-based studio Arch11 for a private client. Spectacular minimalist interiors feature white plaster, glass or casework walls that create a fascinating and forceful interior design.
Polished concrete floors transform into the fireplace facade, visually connecting the entire space and constructing a feeling of carefully studied unification of building materials. The north and south courtyards were linked by removing most of the walls and leaving the space open and clear. The house received the Honor Award for Interiors from the Colorado AIA North Chapter, proving that this magnificent residence has a powerful say in architectural style. These are the words used by the AIA to describe the residence: “This project rose up and stood out. Very impressive spatial organization. Clarity in plan. Wonderful moments of color. Total design, space, light, volume, furniture, details—every element is impeccable and we can’t find a flaw. This is a very deserving project.”
