Now this is a dream home for someone with a passion – the Bear House. Located in a sought-after beach resort town called Cha-Am beach in Thailand, this dream home was designed by Onion to fulfill the owner’s visual, social and comfort needs. Spreading over 380 square meters, this three story high building encompasses the client’s extensive Be@rbrick toy collection. Fascinated by these colorful toys produced by the Japanese company Medicom Toy Incorporated, the owner insisted on living surrounded by his favorite things.
The design of the residence was centered around the Be@rbricks display cabinet, which features an illuminated warm oak wood setting where steps and ladders compose the perfect background for the beloved bear figures. Part of the dining room, this cool display reverberates in the rest of the house mirroring its floor plan and presenting itself as an oversized version of the bear display.
Colorful murals are mirrored in the choice of furniture and oversized lamps and pillows create the illusion of experiencing a larger than life setting. Young Thai graffiti artists known as MMFK and P7 was the one who created all the murals, culminating with the outdoor swimming pool which features a huge mural depicting a bear devouring the artist’s iconic one-eye monster. Now this is a real dream home for someone who knows what they like, do you agree?
