Today’s Cinderella would have loved to pick a Jimmy Choo or Charlotte Olympia creation over the enchanted version created by Fairy Godmother. To mark the the release of the classic fairy tale “Cinderella,” Disney has collaborated with nine luxury designer shoe brands across the globe to assemble an enchanting collection of shoes that reimagine Cinderella’s iconic glass slipper. The distinguished designers include Paul Andrew, Alexandre Birman, René Caovilla, Jimmy Choo, Salvatore Ferragamo, Nicholas Kirkwood, Charlotte Olympia, Jerome C. Rousseau, and Stuart Weitzman. Each shoemaker has created its own interpretation of the famed glass slipper Cinderella accidentally leaves behind when the clock strikes midnight.
Sandra Choi, Creative Director Jimmy Choo, quotes her design inspiration, “I think every girl desires a Cinderella moment in their lives. This story ignites a love affair and fascination with shoes that never dies. The power they have to transform is instilled from a young age and the fantasy remains alive forever. I wanted to create a shoe that felt magical, with alluring sparkle and a feminine, timeless silhouette evoking those childhood emotions.”
We have already seen Swarovski’s Cinderella 2015 figurine that has been designed to pay tribuite to the upcoming film. The renowned crystal maker, which produced the iconic glass slipper for the film also provided the crystals featured in the designers’ shoes.
Those itching to experience the Cinderella moment can hold on as the shoes will be available for order in Saks Fifth Avenue (New York and Beverly Hills), Harrods (London), Galeries Lafayette (Paris), Excelsior Milano (Milan), Tsum (Moscow), Isetan Shinjuku (Tokyo), Level Shoe District, The Dubai Mall (Dubai). Along with these listed stores around the world, Cinderella designer glass shoes will also be available in some of the designer brands’ own stores. These creations will not come with any conditions like the original fictional glass slippers that were supposed to be returned at midnight!
