These days Cinderella has been in news, not for her missing shoe, but for a range of designer edition of her original glass slippers. After taking a look at the sketches of nine luxury designer shoe brands and Charlotte Olympia’s Cinderella shoe, our attention was grabbed by what today’s Cinderella, Lily James wore to premiere of Disney’s latest movie in Berlin.
The leading actress of the upcoming Cinderella film wowed at the 65th Berlinale International Film Festival premiere of the film in a pink Dior ball gown and custom Jimmy Choo Cinderella Shoes. The English actress stepped out in the same shoes that have been re-imagined by Sandra Choi, creative director of Jimmy Choo.
Exclusively commissioned to mark the film’s release, the shimmering Jimmy Choo stiletto is hand-encrusted with hundreds of crystals and the toe is adorned with crystals arranged like a bouquet.
Sandra Choi voices her inspiration behind designing the enchanted glass slipper edition, “I think every girl desires a Cinderella moment in their lives. This story ignites a love affair and fascination with shoes that never dies. The power they have to transform is instilled from a young age and the fantasy remains alive forever. I wanted to create a shoe that felt magical, with alluring sparkle and a feminine, timeless silhouette evoking those childhood emotions.”
