Can a pickup truck run bumper-to-bumper with a sports car? If it’s the Chevrolet concept pickup – that’s a yes. Chevy has packed some serious muscle in this cab truck – a new 6.2-liter V8 that produces 420 hp. It’s the same engine used by the 2014 Corvette Stingray. And the race car influences don’t stop there. The Cheyenne’s wheels, tires and carbon ceramic brakes are from the upcoming track-focused 2014 Camaro Z/28. It also has a lowered suspension with rear stabilizer bar for enhanced handling.
To lower the vehicle’s weight (by more than 200 pounds), there are carbon fiber bumpers, tailgate and cargo box.
The Cheyenne will look to play in the same sandbox as other sporty trucks, such as the Ford F-150 Tremor and SVT Raptor.
