Chanel is making a dazzling statement at the largest mall on the West Coast with the opening of its redesigned boutique at South Coast Plaza. Designed by architect Peter Marino, Chanel’s store in the upscale-luxury shopping center in Costa Mesa, California, boasts of a Midas touch. The 9,000-square-foot boutique, which first opened in 1990, has swelled by 2,000 square feet after the renovation. Rubbing shoulders with the likes of Dior and Tiffany & Co., the seven-room Chanel boutique gives an impression of the Paris apartment of Coco Chanel. The new face-lifted store sports a sea-inspired concept with wavy motifs, pearlescent finishes and textures. Even the color palette of oceanic blues and pale greens with coral-inspired lilacs and pinks complements the signature Chanel shades of black, white and gold, reflected in bespoke fabrics.
Abundance of dazzle is spotted in form of an installation by contemporary abstract artist Nancy Lorenz with ivory lacquer and gold wall panels. More gilding can be found on Maison d’Art Goossens chandeliers and gold silk curtains with appliques.
A handmade gold woven material designed specifically for the boutique dresses up the walls in the salon which is reserved to highlight a selection of exotic handbags and accessories. Another salon meant to display handbags, sunglasses and costume jewelry features a pair of white sculptural chairs by the French artist Ingrid Donat.
The fitting rooms of the South Coast Plaza boutique also make the shoppers comfortable with an option of temperature control and lighting along with an opportunity of selecting music from the library.
Exclusive to the new Chanel store and to mark its opening is the Mademoiselle Privé Camélia timepiece in 18 karat white gold and 60 dazzling diamonds. The watch salon also features a selection of Haute Horlogerie pieces, including a diamond and pink sapphire Mademoiselle Privé Camélia and Mademoiselle Privé Camélia Tourbillon.
The boutique debuted with the Spring-Summer 2015 Ready-to-Wear Collection designed by Karl Lagerfeld. Chanel at South Coast Plaza also lures fans and shoppers with handbags, shoes, costume jewelry, accessories, watches and fine jewelry in elegant modern setting.
