Chanel takes off in style from Terminal 2C, gate n°5, of Paris-Cambon airport, under the glass roof of the Grand Palais. Guests fastened their seat-belts as Karl Lagerfeld launched the French luxury fashion house’s Spring-Summer 2016 Ready‑to‑Wear collection in Paris.
Lined with a row of check-in desks, the runway at the Chanel-themed airport terminal was also dotted with numbered gates, departures and arrivals as well as waiting area.Passengers and Chanel Airlines hostesses paraded about 99 looks from the latest feminine collection. While the front row was glamorized with the likes of Anna Wintour, Lily-Rose Depp, Vanessa Paradis, Cara Delevingne, and St. Vincent.Karl Lagerfeld’s collection combines comfort and elegance, as well as chic and functional accessories, in a palette spanning blue, white, red, metallic gray and black, as well as prints. The iconic tweed dominates the collection but not without the significant use of denim, leather, lace, guipure, silk and ottoman. The iconic Chanel suit for the season lands in monochrome print or pastel colors and tied at the waist with a ribbon but without a collar, pockets, braids and buttons. The evening wear of the collection is seen in form of wide skirts and pants which are paired with jackets and tank tops embroidered with cabin‑inspired silver embroidery and tacked with grosgrain ribbons. The airport-theme is seen on the clothes too as Karl Lagerfeld has played with the codes of the sky on knits and silks which are adorned with departure-board prints, arrow signage, and airplane motifs. Red, white, and blue airplane pins are also seen on many creations.Sporting double ponytails, large aviator sunglasses, wedge sandals with luminous soles or open booties in silver leather and transparent plastic, these travelers also show off the latest must-have wheelie suitcase, the “Coco Case”.
