This quintessential New England summer destination centers its events and activities around the celebrated Lawn at Castle Hill Inn, a signature Newport experience. Here, guests enjoy a lush rolling lawn and wrap-around views of Newport harbor, with the opportunity to experience the delectable culinary offerings of Castle Hill. Artisanal cocktails are served under a custom-made Sperry sailcloth awning, while lunch can be enjoyed while reclining seaside in the Adirondacks. Also new for summer 2014, Castle Hill Inn is launching a water taxi for guests, which will conveniently take passengers from Castle Hill Inn Marina to Newport Yachting Center Marina, without the worry of traffic or having to drive into town. The service will begin with weekend service on Saturday, May 17 and transition to operating seven days a week starting June 21 thru Labor Day weekend.
Classic films on the Inn’s sweeping lawn will return for the second summer. Castle Hill Inn will be showcasing films from the James Bond film franchise. The films will be shown every Monday beginning June 23 through August 25
The official starting line of the annual Newport to Bermuda race on June 20 sits right in front of the Inn’s majestic lawn, making it the perfect spot to wish the competitors well on their 3 day journey to the finish line at St. David’s Lighthouse in Bermuda. The Castle Hill Hinckley yacht will be on the water, available for guests who want a true sailor’s perspective.
On Sunday evenings, Castle Hill Inn’s private beach is the place to go for s’mores, cocktails, storytelling and stargazing with a local astronomer, who leads guests through a fireside astronomical experience. This will occur on Sunday evenings during July and August.
For the Fourth of July, the Castle Hill Inn lawn offers an obstructed view of Newport’s annual fireworks show. Guests will enjoy gourmet drinks and bites while watching the spectacular fireworks.
A time-honored New England tradition, Castle Hill Inn’s clambake pit is nestled on the far edge of the picturesque bluffs and is the weekly centerpiece to a dining experience rich with natural flavors and homegrown fun. Guests can observe the process led by Castle Hill Inn’s Executive Chef Karsten Hart, sip artisan cocktails, or play bocce and croquet against the backdrop of Newport Harbor until it’s time to gather for a uniquely local and expertly prepared feast. The clambakes will take place on July 8, July 22, July 29 and August 12.
