It’s official, Mulberry has teamed up with model Cara Delevingne to launch a Cara collection of bags. Announced at London Fashion Week, the British It Girl took to the stage at Claridge’s Hotel to showcase the new bags, designed in collaboration with Mulberry. Dubbed “The Cara Delevingne Collection,” the new line of bags are designed in the spirit of the rebellious 21-year-old model.
Mulberry, still without a creative director since the departure of Emma Hill, announced that it would be dropping out of its usual runway slot at London Fashion Week. Instead, they look to Claridge’s to unveil their exclusive new handbag collection designed in partnership Cara, who has been beautifully featured in many Mulberry campaigns.
“Cara worked closely with the Mulberry design team to create a collection of bags. She visited the archives, chose leathers, sketched ideas… and the trend for understated elegance,” Mulberry said. Prices of the new collection will start at 890 pounds ($1,500) and go up to 2,500 pounds. All bags will be stamped with “Made in England” on the bottom, similar to Cara’s “Made in England” tattoo. And, the bags will be made in England at Mulberry’s Somerset ateliers.
Talking about her design, Cara said, “I love to be elegant. But it’s about not trying too hard, it has to be effortless. My Granny will like this bag. She’s one hundred and two years old. My five year old cousin will probably like this bag. He’s a boy.”
Here’s photos taken at Claridge’s for the big reveal of “The Cara Delevingne Collection” for Mulberry. Press releases handed out at the event stated: “To Mulberry, Cara epitomises the brand values of British Heritage combined with London Cool.”
