The legendary Cannes Film Festival kicks off today. The mystique surrounding the event in the south of France is as much about the social scene as it is about the film projections. With eleven nights entirely dedicated to partying, celebrities and charity events, everyone wants to know where VIPs like Rihanna, Eva Longoria, Doutzen Kroes or Hugh Laurie will be partying the night away.

Here’s a look at some of the major parties at Cannes 2013Cannes 2013:

May 16: The Trophée Chopard

For the 13th year in a row, the Trophée Chopard Ceremony will take place at the beginning of the Festival. Colin Firth is acting as patron this year. Awards will be given to Male and Female Revelations of the year, rewarding new talents. After the ceremony, a soirée will be organized for the winners at the Chopard Lounge on the top floor of the Hotel Martinez, where guests will have the opportunity to enjoy a live performance by Solange Knowles in an intimate space.

May 16: L’Oréal Paris gives Hugh Laurie carte blanche

Hugh Laurie, as L’Oréal’s guest and ambassador, will attend the Festival for the first time. On the 7th floor of the Hotel Martinez, he will sing a few exclusive songs from his latest album at an event that will welcome Freida Pinto, Fan Bingbing, Sonam Kapoor and Liya Kebede. A DJ set from Telepopmusik will accompany the rest of the evening.

May 17: L’Oréal’s private concert by Micky Green

Two new songs by Micky Green will be released exclusively during a private concert given in the L’Oréal Paris suite at the luxurious Hotel Martinez. Celebrities such as Eva Longoria, Aimee Mullins and Doutzen Kroes are expected.

May 20: Dita Von Teese puts on a show at Nikki Beach



Nikki Beach sets up on the roof of the Palais du Festival to host hot VIP parties. On May 20, those on the guestlist will have the chance to witness burlesque icon Dita Von Teese’s live show on one of the Palais’s patios.

May 20: Charity event ‘Wheeling around the World’

A gala at the Majestic Barrière will mark the launch of Alexandre Bodart Pinto’s WAW Foundation, which will help persons with limited mobility travel more easily. Celebrities such as French TV star Nikos Aliagas will act as patrons for the evening, while awards will be given to representatives of films that support the cause for disabilities, such as “The Intouchables” and “The Sessions.” Participants can also take part in an auction organized for the Foundation’s benefit.

May 23: AmfAR fights against AIDS

The prestigious charity gala Cinema Against AIDS, organized by AmfAR, will take place at Eden Roc in Cap d’Antibes. The gala brings together the world’s greatest fashion, music and business celebrities. Sharon Stone, Janet Jackson, Naomi Campbell and Heidi Klum were chosen this year as co-presidents of the evening, during which a fashion show will take place. Burberry, Dior, Gucci, Givenchy and Louis Vuitton will be represented.

May 23rd: Villa Schweppes’ After party

Villa Schweppes will be the place to be after all those soirées. The club is situated at 3.14 Beach and will feature parties every single night during the Festival with celebrities such as C2C and Yuksek. French rapper Joey Starr will also come to the Villa with his DJs on May 23 to set fire to the Croisette for hours.

May 25th: Last night of the Festival at ‘Nikki Beach Family’

For the closing ceremony, the entire Nikki Beach team will organize one last soirée to celebrate the Palme d’Or, deservedly so.
