Great looking new resort from and old name.
It brought us Redcoats, knobbly knee contests and glamorous grannies. But how times have changed. Today at Butlins it’s all disco lifts, singing showers and snow caves, not to mention the lavish range of spa treatments. In fact if Billy Butlin walked into the holiday chain’s latest venture, he might struggle to connect it with the rather more basic holiday camp he launched back in 1936. The Redcoats are still there at the £20 million new Ocean Hotel with spa – but it’s a world away from the draughty wooden huts of the 1950s Hi-de-Hi era. The seven-storey, 200-room hotel has been launched at the existing Butlins resort in Bognor Regis, West Sussex and holiday company bosses hope it will buck the credit crunch trend. It boasts a 670-square metre spa which includes a snow cave – a very cold room in which artificial snow forms. – From Daily Mail
