Just because we live in an age of email, text messages and Face Time, it doesn’t mean that everyone has given up on the humble written word. Felix Fu, a Hong Kong-born artist who now calls Newton, Massachusetts, home, is one such person. Fu is the man behind the whimsically charming stationers Felix Doolittle, who specialize in (you guessed it) stationary, recipe cards, canning labels, notepaper and other artistic paper confections for those of us who still enjoy a good hand-written thank you note from time to time.
Each piece of Felix Doolittle stationary is a miniature work of art, based on a hand painted watercolor by Fu himself. The images have a nostalgic feel that call to mind vintage holiday cards, antique seed packets and recipes written in longhand by your grandmother. Playful, classic and at times childlike, the illustrations range from tiny flower bouquets, longhorn steers and baseball mitts, to sushi rolls, blueberries and ice cream cones, ensuring a perfect fit for every occasion.
If, after scrolling through the dozens and dozens of designs, you find yourself without a perfect fit (it’s unlikely, but it could happen), Felix Doolittle also offers custom stationary, holiday cards and invitations, emblazoned with your name, favorite quote or other information, along with the illustration of our choice.
