We recently spent a weekend at Charlottesville’s luxurious Clifton Inn, a posh Forbes Four Star, Relais & Chateaux property. The historic inn, once home to Thomas Mann Randolph, son-in-law of Thomas Jefferson, is today a 17-room property on 100 rolling acres just moments from the University of Virginia, wineries, Monticello and much more.
The Inn is a popular location for weddings — its expansive grounds, award-winning restaurant and numerous outbuildings make it an ideal property for a buyout affair. But the Inn has sweetened the deal for 2014 brides. Book an exclusive use wedding at the property, and they’ll throw in a four-night honeymoon at a Paris apartment, on them.
While Clifton is far from the first property we’ve seen to toss in a honeymoon, it’s one of the few boutique hotels we’ve seen to offer a package of this magnitude. Why Paris, you say? Clifton Inn owner Mitch Willey also owns luxury vacation rental website Time & Place, which offers more than 50 Parisian apartments in its portfolio.
Personally, we can’t think of a better way to celebrate your first days as Mr. and Mrs. than in the City of Love.
