The problem with special edition cars is their names are sometimes a little cumbersome. This version of the BMW 7 Series is no exception. Officially dubbed the “BMW Individual M760i xDrive Model V12 Excellence THE NEXT 100 YEARS” centennial model, it would eat up my entire character count for this post even if use judiciously, so from now on it shall be known as the 760i C. Got it?
So what’s so special about this special edition Bimmer?
Let’s start with the fact that it’s a new 760i. That means it gets all the goodies that make the 7 Series the best full-sized luxury sedan I drove last year, throw in a 601 horsepower 12-cylinder engine and then hand it off to the BMW Individual group to create a custom interior that takes what was an already outrageously luxurious ride to another level.
Limited to just 100 units only five of which will make their way to the United States, the 760i C is a fully loaded version of the 7 Series that starts with the innovative carbon core frame, xDrive, gesture control, rear executive lounge seating and a panoramic sky lounge LED roof. In addition you’ll also find a dual axle air suspension that includes automatic leveling and dynamic damper control. This system incluces active drive control that ties into the GPS system and other data to adjust to the road ahead. When you enable the driving dynamics control switch, the set-up adapts to the current driving style and route characteristics.
For this centenary edition BMW have created a bespoke color they’re calling, for obvious reasons, Centennial Blue metallic. It wears custom 20-inch wheels finished in a two-toned silver and ferric gray. On the B-pillar you’ll also find a subtle touch – handcrafted lettering that reads, “THE NEXT 100 YEARS”
Inside, BMW turned their Individual group loose and they’ve created a beautiful interior. The the seats, door panels including B pillars, the upper and lower sections of the instrument panel, the center console, armrests and door handles are covered in bespoke Smoke White Merino leather with black accents. The seats, of course, feature a quilted pattern and the headliner is made from Smoke White Alcantara. All wood is finished in a glossy piano black, creating a striking contrast.
Since no birthday is complete without a gift, the BMW 760i C comes with a custom-made Montblanc fountain pen. This unique writing instrument is based on their Skeleton fountain pen which mimics the quilting of the seats. It is finished in Centennial Blue and has a rhodium-plated gold nib that’s engraved to match the stitching as well.
No pricing has been announced, but expect to pay a significant premium over the standard 760i, which would mean those lucky enough to get their hands on one will have to part with well over $150,000.
