Amazing piece of jewelry.
A blue diamond dazzled at auction once again on Thursday, with a 6.29-carat fancy-intense-blue stone fetching $3.6 million at Christie’s spring jewelry sale. According to a press release from the iconic New York-based auction house, an anonymous buyer snapped up the pear-shaped stone, paying $565,000 a carat. The purchase comes on the heels of the record-setting sale of a 7.03-carat flawless vivid-blue diamond by Sotheby’s last month. That blue diamond sold for $9.49 million, the highest price pad per carat for any gemstone sold at auction. – From National Jewelry Network
