Bentley Motors is expanding its Continental GT line to include an S model that promises greater performance and more sporting driving characteristics. Available in both a coupe and convertible body styles, the new Continental GT V8 S features a twin-turbo, 4-liter V8 engine, lowered and retuned sports suspension and styling cues to let others know you are not driving a garden-variety Continental GT (if there is such a thing).
Dr Wolfgang Schreiber, Chairman and Chief Executive, Bentley Motors, said “The Bentley Continental is the definitive grand tourer. Now, for those customers who want even more drama and excitement, the sharper, sporting edge of the new GT V8 S adds a new dimension to the Continental range.”
The updated V8 engine provides 521 bhp – up 521 bhp from 500 for the base GT – which along with the close-ratio ZF 8-speed automatic transmission will power the 5060 pound coupe from 0-60 in just 4.3 seconds.
In addition the entire suspension has been massaged to provide for a more sporting driving experience. It has been lowered by 10 mm and spring rates have been increased by 45% upfront and 33% in the rear. Bushings have been stiffened by 70% and the anti-roll bar by 54%. The result is a car that delivers more road feel with less lean and yaw during hard driving.
The Bentley Continental GT S V8 will make its debut at the Frankfurt Auto Show next week and will be available for delivery in early 2014. Pricing has yet to be announced.
