Barneys New York announces the launch of The Window, an editorial site infused with luxury, wit, and style that will live on Barneys.com. The Window gives the viewer a unique and expertly cultivated view into the worlds of luxury, culture, beauty and the people behind the most celebrated design houses, through interactive features and exclusive content.
Found at barneys.com/thewindow, it features original material including news items, designer profiles, exclusive Q&As, and contributions from some of the fashion industry’s most celebrated personalities. Visitors will have the unique opportunity to speak directly with Amanda Brooks; the recently appointed Women’s Fashion Director.
The Window will offer three regular weekly columns: The Pedestal, On the Fly and The Big Bang. Each will be written by a dedicated team of style writers and trend setters. The Pedestal will examine Barneys-related special and exclusive product. On the Fly will feature catch-ups with cultural figures and people of interest. The Big Bang will share amusing and inspiring stories from designers about how their careers were launched, beginning with Theory Creative Director Olivier Theyskens. Additional launch content will include a charming feature by Simon Doonan, Creative Ambassador-At-Large, about his long standing relationship with Alber Elbaz of Lanvin, an On the Fly interview with Barneys New York CEO Mark Lee, profile of Carven designer Guillaume Henry and an interview with legendary photographer and Spring 2011 “Backstage” campaign contributor William Klein, and more.
The Window was developed by Barneys New York in conjunction with Group SJR, a digital, media, design, and market research firm. It will be edited by Lesley M. M. Blume, a contributing style editor at The Huffington Post, whose work has appeared in Vogue, Vanity Fair, Slate, and The Daily Beast among others.
